Many civilians visit every year to stroll down the historic streets as well as visit many galleries, shops, bayous, and world-famous restaurants that contain fresh seafood from local waters.
A vast rage of migratory and shore birds, including the intriguing white pelican, roseate spoonbill, and bald eagle. The Cedar Keys that consists of federally protected sanctuaries form a chain of barrier islands, which ideally suit these wide variety of wild birds, fish, and other animals. The island also holds a numerous variety of natural habitats, all the way from Indian shell mounds to salt marshes.

How to get here
Cedar Key is about 50 miles southwest of Gainesville, Florida, 135 miles north of Tampa and 130 miles southwest of Jacksonville, Florida.
From Gainesville, take State Route #24 southwest for approximately 50 miles. You will cross-over State Highway 27-41 in Archer, Alternate Route 27 in Bronson, and US 19-98 in Otter Creek. Continue until you encounter a stop sign in the City of Cedar Key. Travel time from Gainesville to Cedar Key is estimated at about one hour.
